The newest wedding dresses to add to your Pinterest board.

Twice a year, the bridal industry has its own version of New York Fashion Week, where the trends for the upcoming season are revealed. We recently debuted our Fall 2018 collection with a presentation that celebrates everyone — a gown for women of all sizes, styles, and budgets.  Our newest collection incorporates some of the key trends from Spring 2018, such as statement skirts, cool toppers, and fresh color options, as well as plenty of fresh silhouettes, fabrications,  and embellishments to get excited about! Keep reading for the Fall 2018 wedding dress trends you can look forward to!

Petal Pushers

We can’t get enough of floral wedding details, and even better when our wedding dress features a flowery motif.  This season, we’re offering a variety of blooming beauties; choose the level of flower power that best suits your style! From a sprinkling of 3D appliques embellished with beading or swathed in tulle, to a striking ball gown adorned with grand rosettes on the skirt, and everything in between! If you’re after a romantic wedding dress, you’ll want to consider one with plenty of petals incorporated into its design.

360° Drama

You’re the star of the show at your wedding with photos being taken at every turn, so a dress that is picture-perfect from all angles is a must. Our newest collection boasts some of our prettiest gowns with alluring back details. Illusion mesh, intricate sheer lace, or an open keyhole are just a few of the ways you can wear this trend from our fall arrivals. Style tip: wear your hair up to show off that stunning back!

A Touch of Whimsy

Move over rhinestones and sequins, these whimsical embellishments are what wedding dreams are made of! First, our new favorite way to give a gown some shine is with specks of glitter or glimmering metallic threads strategically scattered throughout. What we’re aptly calling ‘fairy dust’ gives these new wedding dresses an ethereal sparkle with every turn. Alternatively, feathers are having a major moment! A feather-trimmed hem instantly makes a timeless silhouette more glamorous. The  fun doesn’t stop with the gown; feather statement earrings or chic feather topper are great ways to add some playful drama to your look.

In with OTS

Off-the-shoulder dresses have been trending in ready-to-wear and the fresh neckline translates perfectly to bridal as the new take on strapless. Highlighting your decolletage while offering some comfort with the sleeves, off-the-shoulder wedding dresses are a crowd favorite. Style tip: opt for statement jewelry to complete your look.

More Lace to Love

Lace is always a classic bridal choice, but what makes this season’s lace wedding dresses feel fresh are their updated details and unexpected combinations. For example, lace goes Boho with long sleeve sheath and keyhole back; graphic with linear lace motifs; modern with high necklines; and sultry with an off-the-shoulder trumpet wedding dress.

Pretty Pearls

Channel something old than through the details of your wedding dress! Pearls have that inherent vintage feel, and these gowns from our fall collection are the perfect combination of old and new.

Sleeves, please!

Planning a cold-weather wedding? Long sleeves pair perfectly with the season, offering the prettiest amount of coverage so you’re comfortable all day long. Additional details, like an illusion mesh, plunging neckline, or low swooping back balance out long sleeves.

Color Crushes

In with the hue! The colored wedding dress trends continues, and this season we’re introducing a new color: Stone! Along with Champagne, Gold, and warm blush tones, colored wedding dresses are perfect for the bride who dares to stray a bit from tradition. Not to mention, they’re so flattering on so many skin tones! Pull off a non-white dress by ensuring your accessories complement your color of choice and not clash. See our guide to colored wedding dresses for more tips and inspiration.

Our best dresses with all of the swoon-worthy details.

We’ve shared our favorite gowns under $600 and $1,000, but today we’re highlighting our top tier dresses, from price point to design. What warrants the price tag of our $1,001-$2,000 dresses? First, hand sewn upon the gowns are intricate lace and floral details. Careful attention goes into adorning airy chantilly lace sleeves or ornate 3D embroidery. Next, yards and yards of tulle are used to create fuller-than-full ball gowns and that shimmering godet skirt. Lastly, thousands of beads, sequins, pearls, or crystals embellish a number of our dresses, from top to bottom. See some of our most coveted hand crafted wedding dresses under $2,000 below.

Yellow bridesmaid dresses for a sunshine-y wedding day.

Choosing your wedding color is one of the first steps of wedding planning. It dictates almost every decision that comes later, from your save the dates to your flowers. For Spring 2018 we added a bold new hue – Sunflower – to our assortment of yellow bridesmaid dresses. Touted as the top color trend of the year by Pantone during NYFW, the hue is ‘a confident and outgoing bright… glistening with joy and illuminating the world around us.’ That’s some good wedding-day juju if we’ve ever heard any!

Sunflower Yellow Bridesmaid Dresses from David's Bridal

Inspired by real bridal parties and trend explorations, we knew it was time for a fresh take on yellow for our #DBMaids. The best part about Sunflower is its versatility. When you think ‘yellow bridesmaid dresses’, you may initially think summer is the only season this shade can shine. Not the case! Sunflower’s richness pairs beautifully with greys, pinks, reds, and blues, perfect for spring and fall weddings, too. Plus, in true David’s fashion, we offer everything from shoes and ribbon to wedding decorations in Sunflower yellow making for endless ways to coordinate your day.

Whether you opt for an all Sunflower bridal party or pops of bold yellow here-and-there, we can’t wait to see how you style our new favorite shade! Still deciding on the shade for the big day? Explore more color pairings on real girls for the ultimate inspiration.

Because who says you have to wear a ball gown on your wedding day?

Thanks to inspirational content and insanely beautiful real brides all over Pinterest and Instagram, the standard of having a ‘true to you’ wedding has heightened. We have been so inspired by this nontraditional, alternative bride movement, from the getaway gal to City Hall I do’s, that we have an outfit for everyone no matter their ideal wedding-day style.

Short/High Low

Women modeling short wedding dresses

Cropped hemlines are of-the-moment, for their versatility and accessorizing possibilities. The best part about these clean-slate styles is that you can really make the look your own. Rock your favorite shoes and everyday earrings for a casual feel, or go glam with a sparkly pump and over the top jewelry.

Pants/Jumpsuits

Women modeling bridal jumpsuits

Pants please! Wearing separates or a jumpsuit on your wedding day isn’t just casual and comfortable, it’s the definition of chic. A crisp wide-leg, white pant and strappy crop top to match is the ultimate cool girl combo. Looking for something a tad more formal? Give our strapless jumpsuit a try. The greatest part about these styles is that you can (and will!) wear them again.

Simple/Effortless Sheaths

Women modeling sheath wedding dresses

This is probably the easiest way to partake in the alternative bride trend without straying too far from wearing a long, white dress. Simple sheaths are easy and light weight options that can work for almost any wedding. It’s all about how you style it!

Not into wearing something other than a beautiful, long, white dress on your big day? Consider giving these looks a go for events surrounding your wedding, such as your rehearsal dinner or bridal shower. To help guide you in the right direction, explore our casual dress assortment, over 100 carefully selected styles that are perfect for the alternative bride. Remember, whatever you do, be you!

The curvy girl’s guide to finding the perfect gown.

Everyone deserves to feel beautiful on their wedding day, no matter their style, size, or budget. We’re happy to offer dresses for all brides in a full range of sizes, from petite to plus to extra length, and this season we’ve introduced five new styles that are exclusive to our Plus Size collection. What sets these Plus Size wedding dresses apart from our already vast assortment? First, our Plus Size collection is designed using a size 18 fit model – versus the industry standard size 8 – to ensure a perfect fit. In addition, we’ve created wedding dresses with supportive straps, a little extra coverage, flattering silhouettes that accentuate all your best curves, and pretty, opulent details so you feel confident and comfortable on your wedding day.

Did you count six? That’s because the last two are the same dress! We love a gown that has removable details, perfect for the transition from the ceremony to reception.

Learn more about our Plus Size wedding dresses, available in sizes 16-26, then book an appointment to try them on in person!

Bridesmaid trends you will see all over weddings next year.

We’ve all been there – friend meets that someone special, friend falls in love, friend gets engaged, friend asks you to wear a dress that just isn’t you on her big day. Ugh. If that’s you, don’t worry, we’re here to help. Our newest collection features dresses that have all of the ladies at our home office begging to be in a wedding. Yes, they’re that good. We are so excited to share the Spring 2018 bridesmaid trends with you, so what are you waiting for – keep reading!

Clean Slate

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

Bridesmaid trends seem to come and go, but we are here to tell you that clean, classic, and structured bridesmaids dresses are back in a big way! If the wedding is black tie required, you should take a look at our Mikado dresses. Elevated and elegant, the clean lines and updated silhouettes make a traditional look a bit more modern (did we mention this style has pockets?!).

Cool & Casual

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

We all have that one friend who is just too cool, but we love her anyways. She would never be caught in anything traditional and she would definitely never let her maids wear a flowy frock. Opting for a cool and trendy jumpsuit like this one is a sure way to stand out from the crowd.

Statement Skirts

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

Looking to show off your shoes but still want to wear a long dress? Us too. Say hello to our new best friends, the high low dress and the faux wrap dress! We guarantee that you’ll love having a statement to make from skirt to shoe.

Florals

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

We can hear it now, “Florals for Spring? Shocking.” But honestly, what’s Spring without a good floral? This season we are introducing a new, exclusive micro floral print that is Bride and Bridesmaids approved! Worried that an all-over print may be too much? Reserve this one if you’re part of a smaller party.

Bright & Bold

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

If you can’t imagine the entire bridal party in florals, try incorporating some bright hues that complement it. This is a great update to last season’s mix and match trend. The floral print acts as the anchor for the party (perhaps the Maid of Honor?) while the rest of the girls don various colors pulled from the print.

Neckline Diversity

Spring 2018 Bridesmaid Dress Trends

Photo by Stephanie Williams for 100 Layer Cake

Just like uniformity in fabric and color have taken a turn, now it’s time to try mixing up necklines. We are all built differently, so it’s important to choose a style that complements your shape. A bit more modest? Opt for a style with a higher neck. If you’re a little more trendy, choose a cold shoulder dress with a bit of bling. There’s no wrong combo, just make sure you make it your own!

If you want to be the #1 bridesmaid in your friend’s bridal party, offer to help make an appointment at your nearest David’s Bridal. We guarantee she will thank you! And while you’re at it, send your favorite bride-to-be this post as a subtle reminder that David’s Bridal has all of the hottest bridesmaid’s trends for Spring 2018! You can thank us later.
